Gabby Shanahan Opposes Chicago Public Schools Bailout

Fights for Equitable Education and Against Unfair Tax Burdens on Illinois Families

Will County, IL – Candidate for State Representative Gabby Shanahan responds to Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson’s push for a statewide bailout of Chicago Public Schools.

“Local families can’t afford to bail out Chicago Public Schools, which spend $30,000 per student, compared to $24,000 for the statewide average. This measure would allow Chicago to skip the line, placing an undue burden on families in our communities by increasing property taxes,” said Gabby Shanahan.

The first in her family to go to college, Gabby Shanahan is a mom of three who understands the transformational power of education. She is focused on ensuring every child, regardless of background or geography, has access to a world-class education so they can pursue the life of their dreams.

“Every child deserves the best opportunity to succeed and access an education that fits their needs. Instead of bailing out Chicago Public Schools, we need to look at comprehensive reforms that empower families with great local schools,” explained Shanahan.

Gabby Shanahan’s campaign focuses on fighting for local families, improving financial stability, lowering the cost of everyday goods, ensuring community safety, and providing quality education opportunities.
